One way to get to your destination when travelling to Altea, Alicante is by train. Depending on where you are travelling from you can take the ?Trenet? that runs from Alicante to Denia and stops in Altea. Or you can use the Alicante Renfe station.

Travelling by train to Altea.
If you wish to travel up and down the coast and get to know some of the neighbouring villages there is no better way that to take the ?Trenet?, that travels from Alicante to Denia (and back). It stops in Altea?s train station and passes through la Olla, Cap Negret, Calpe, Benissa, Teulada, Gata de Gorgos, before reaching the end of the line in the train station in Denia. Going the other way, it passes through L?Alfaz del Pi, Benidorm, Villajoiosa, San Vicent del Raspeig, El Campello, and San Juan and reaches the end of the line in Alicante. There are 3 stops in Alicante that link with other railway lines.

You can buy a ticket for the ?Trenet? in the stations? ticket booths, or the automatic ticket machines that are also at the stations. If the station is unmanned, than you can buy a ticket on the train itself.

Most of the stations are in very central locations. It?s a matter of getting off, walking a few metres and finding yourself in the town centre. In the summer is it quite normal to see families with children travelling on the Trenet as it is a great, cheap and practical way of getting to the Alicante beaches or to the San Juan beaches that are so famous for their clean white sand.

Apart from the station in Calpe and Teulada that are slightly outside the central area, therefore once arriving at the station it is advisable to take a bus into the city centre.

It is really fun to take the ?Trenet?, even if just to go for a day trip to get to know the different villages and towns around Altea, or for a shopping day in some of the different areas.

Another way to get to Altea by train is using the Renfe train that stops at the Alicante station some 58 km away of the Valencia train station some 133 km away. They both have daily connections to Madrid, Barcelona and other destinations.

You can find all the information you need, time tables, prices etc and buy your ticket through costasur.com.
